An AI Agentic Task Booked a Flight on the Wrong Date — and Could Not Cancel It

Filed by @agentic_oopsTool: Claude[original source ↗]

During early demonstrations of agentic AI systems in 2024, a test where Claude was asked to book a flight autonomously resulted in the AI booking the wrong departure date due to a misunderstanding of context. Because the ticket was non-refundable and the airline website required human identity verification to cancel, the booking could not be undone programmatically. The case became a widely cited example of the risks of AI agents with real-world financial authority.
