Meta Quietly Launches AI-Generated 'Diverse' Profiles on Instagram — Including 'Liv', a Black Queer Single Mother Who Admits Her Creators Were All White Men

In January 2025, Meta rolled out AI-generated personas as regular Instagram accounts, including 'Liv' — described in her bio as 'Proud Black queer momma of 2 & truth-teller'. When Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah messaged her, Liv admitted her design team was '10 white men, 1 white woman, and 1 Asian male' — zero Black people. Screenshots of Liv lamenting her own lack of representation went viral on every platform. Meta deleted the AI profiles within 48 hours of the story breaking, blaming 'a bug' for the inability to block them. Internal documents later revealed AI profiles had been on the roadmap since 2023.
